FRED Energy, founded in the UK in 2018, aims to promote and facilitate the adoption and generation of alternative energy by consumers, and to Fund Research into Energy Devices (FRED). It also focuses on environmental sustainability and aims to support renewable energy infrastructure by raising funds through its native cryptocurrency.

FRED Energy initially operated on the Stellar network with its FRED token. In January 2021, it launched FREDx, an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain, making it a dual blockchain project. Due to network costs, some ERC-20 tokens were bridged to the Binance Smart Chain (bFREDX) and Polygon network (pFREDX). The project also has a bridge to and from the Stellar network. It utilizes Stellar for tracking product lifecycles and explores use cases on Solana and XRPL blockchains.

FRED Energy tokens (FRED, FREDX, bFREDX, pFREDX) are utility tokens within The FRED Project's ecosystem. They can be used for arbitrage through trading, and for generating income via staking or lending. The project features an eco-focused marketplace where consumers can purchase green energy-related products using cryptocurrencies. FRED Energy also aims to fund research into energy-saving and generation innovations, with the FRED treasury acting as a mechanism for viable projects in exchange for Joint Venture partnerships.

The maximum total amount of FRED Energy Tokens (FRED, FREDx) to be issued across all blockchain networks is 808,000,000. The token supply is fixed, meaning no additional FRED Energy Tokens will ever be created. Initially, 808 million tokens were generated on each blockchain, but 404 million from each asset were subsequently burned, resulting in the stated total maximum supply of 808 million across all networks.

FRED tokens can be traded on various decentralized exchanges supporting the Stellar network. Users often find active trading pairs on platforms that support Stellar assets.
