PoB is IOST’s unique consensus mechanism. Unlike Proof-of-Stake (PoS) which favors the "richest" nodes, PoB uses a "believability score" to select validators. This score is calculated based on token balance, contributions to the network (Servi tokens), and reputation. It splits nodes into "believable" (fast processing) and "normal" (verification) leagues to maintain both speed and security across the network.

IOST 3.0 transitioned to become a specialized Layer 2 on BNB Chain to leverage its robust liquidity and established security. This strategic pivot allows IOST to focus on its new identity as a dedicated payment rail (PayFi) and a hub for Decentralized Physical Infrastructure (DePIN). Yes, IOST 3.0 introduced a "Strategic Token Evolution Program" to fund its new Layer 2 ecosystem. While additional tokens were issued, the Foundation emphasized a "Community-First" distribution. A significant 97% of these newly issued tokens are specifically reserved for staking rewards, developer grants, and broader ecosystem growth, ensuring that the community directly benefits from the expansion and development initiatives.

IOST 3.0 implements three primary token burning mechanisms to manage supply. Firstly, a portion of the profits generated from validator Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) is burned. Secondly, fees collected from Real World Asset (RWA) and payment partners within the ecosystem are partially burned. Lastly, periodic burns can be initiated and approved through community governance votes, allowing the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) to influence the token's long-term economics.

IOST transitioned to its mainnet several years ago. For most users, major centralized exchanges, including platforms like LBank, typically handled this swap automatically if tokens were held there. If you still possess ERC-20 tokens in a private wallet, you should deposit them to a supported exchange. While manual swaps are technically intricate and carry risks, using an exchange that supports the original ERC-20 deposits to convert them to mainnet tokens is the recommended and safest approach.
